WIN!

Diverting lodging tax revenue away from tourism (SB 5513)

Position: Oppose

Status: Defeated

In our first action alert for the 2022 session, we asked you to reach out to lawmakers to oppose SB 5513, which would have diverted one-third of lodging tax revenues away from tourism promotion in support of affordable housing. You answered the call and made your voice heard!

As a result of your efforts, your GA team has worked with the prime sponsor to identify a new source of funding to help with affordable housing in Chelan County. Sen. Brad Hawkins has introduced another bill, SB 5868, to address affordable housing issues using the rural counties’ public facilities sales and use tax.

The Washington Hospitality Association testified in support of this new bill.

Thank you again for your quick action on this bill.
